Gucci has announced the launch an exclusive new capsule collection, hitting menswear luxury e-commerce site Mr. Porter in May. The 43-piece collection includes both tailoring and sportswear, all served up with creative director Alessandro Michele’s signature maximalist twist.
The for men-only range spans ready-to-wear and shoes in addition to accessories like cufflinks, ties, and scarves. Every piece in the one-off capsule will bear a special edition yellow label, exclusive to the collection. Throughout, you’ll also see recognizable Gucci icons like the bee and tiger, as well as Michele’s newer cat and skeleton motifs.
The capsule is the latest accomplishment for Michele, who’s had another blockbuster year at Gucci so far. Mr. Porter’s managing director, Toby Bateman sung his praises in a statement: “We are the thrilled to partner with Gucci on this exclusive project, at a time when the House is so vibrant and influential in its designs. Alessandro and his team’s talents truly shine through with this unique capsule collection of iconic pieces, all of which we’re sure will be an instant success with our global customer.”
Marco Bizzarri, Gucci’s president and CEO was equally complimentary of the luxury e-tail store: “We are pleased to build on the success of our exclusive capsule collection for Net-A-Porter last year with a new capsule this time for Mr Porter, whose clients are unquestionably some of the most knowledgeable and sophisticated menswear fashion consumers in the marketplace.”
The full capsule will drop on mrporter.com on May 18th, congruent with the release of a new special fashion film celebrating the collection.END
