The newly debuted Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2021 menswear collection brings the luxury fashion house on a journey around the world. Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello presents the collection through a picturesque lens, filmed across rooftops and landmarks in Paris, New York, and Beijing. Titled No Matter How Long the Night Is, the digital show chases the light of day across the three cities, showcasing the collection in parkour-like sequences.
Like the film’s unencumbered point of view, the menswear explores new terrain for Saint Laurent, namely through a fresh color palette sprinkled with pops of color like yellows, corals, and soft tangerines. The vibrant hues take shape in summery prints and soft textures, juxtaposing Saint Laurent’s signature slim suiting with carefree ease.
The tailored yet bohemian nature of the collection is further emphasized through campaign images that highlight the collection’s architectural inspiration and the theme of freedom.
Deviating from the traditional fashion calendar, this collection marks the fashion house’s first presentation since announcing its recusal from fashion week in light of the pandemic. Saint Laurent’s withdrawal has allowed Vaccarello to find a new pace and rhythm, all the while transforming an alternative show schedule and exercising a new level of creative autonomy.END
