Every Look from Balmain’s Fall/Winter 2018 Collection

START

Olivier Rousteing has always shown how in touch he is to what consumers want. The 32-year-old designer’s latest collection for Balmain was a holographic extravaganza, an iridescent parade of metallic silver, PVC and paillettes. It was an homage to the man who started it all: Pierre Balmain, whose ability to anticipate the needs and wants of his female customers established the house of Balmain as a force in French fashion. Classic Balmain shapes were modernized as ’80s classics like A-ha’s “Take On Me,” and Kim Wilde’s “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” blared from speakers. There were plenty of strong shoulder silhouettes and clever uses of black latex and distressed denim. Towards the end of the show came a tour de force of neon-colored dresses and rhinestoned ensembles that were made for Kira Kira. Ultimately, it was the Balmain we know and love—shiny, unapologetic, and chic. Click through the gallery to see every look from the collection.
