Like many fashion designers, Giorgio Armani had to halt production due to the pandemic. While many designers were left wondering about how they would present their collections and how the pandemic would affect their brand, Armani took the time to really focus on his brand and creating timeless silhouettes and designs for the brand to present post-pandemic. “In a way, the pandemic has proved that my intuition of a timeless and effortless style has always been a valuable one. And this is exactly what I would like to convey with this collection: an idea of comfort that is more in sync with the times that we are living,” Armani said.
The Spring/Summer 2022 Menswear show took place earlier today in Milan, Italy. In this collection, Armani went for the more sophisticated, comfortable but classy look, opting for black and navy suits, trousers, sweaters, vests, and button-up shirts. The designer also took inspiration from sportswear to combine athleisure with sophisticated looks describing the collection as “A sporty way of dressing—dynamic, comfortable and bold—made up of instinctive and essential choices and colours that span from blue to sandy hues and chalk white, with pops of red and green that recall the world of nature — always in harmony, of course,” in an Instagram post.
The collection was perfectly fitting, especially for the time we are in right now. Armani’s casual yet sophisticated designs from this collection are stunning, with light weightless pieces perfect for the work-from-home environment that many in this industry are still in. “The overall attitude is very light, because I think we have all learned to be informal and more relaxed in the way we dress. Reimagined, so it is no longer composed of a blazer and a pair of trousers.” Armani said.
