Many designers have reimagined what a glitzy, glamorous post-lockdown uniform looks like. For Paco Rabanne Creative Director Julien Dossena, it’s all in a days work. The French designer has been imagining an elevated, aristocratic world for nearly eight years.
Paco Rabanne’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection takes viewers inside a dreamy doll house-esque setting with decadent garments to match. Model’s carefree joy is put on full display, jumping up and down in gowns that cost thousands. The collection feels hedonic, chasing a beautiful, romantic vision of saccharine style with it’s exotic furs and stone-adorned dresses. Rich fabrics like tweed, satin, velvet and tulle add a dynamic, feminine flair to exuberant prints found on sharply-tailored suits and flowing, lace blouses.
At it’s heart, the 24-look collection is an ode to the bourgeois, each garment a perfect addition for a high-society dinner party that runs late into the night.
The collection embodies a world that is to come, one consumed by the frills and fastening of high society. While comfort dressing has certainly been adopted by some of our favorite celebrities and maisons, Paco Rabanne continues to remind us of the refined elegance that arises from a beautifully constructed garments. Sure, we don’t need satin pussycat bows and metallic mini dresses but we can dream of them.
