How Burberry is Championing Young Female Voices for International Women’s Day

Cashmere scarves are not the only warmth provided to women by Burberry this March. In honor of International Women’s Day, the luxury fashion house has partnered with London Youth and The Prince’s Trust Women Supporting Women Initiative for a sizable donation and celebratory film.

In an inspiring short video, Burberry is joined by models such as Irina Shayk, Jourdan Dunn, Mariacarla Boscono, Aaron Philip, He Kong, and more, as well as young ambassadors from London Youth, a network of diverse community organizations for juveniles. Questions about the power of womanhood and reasons for honoring girls on such a monumental day are discussed by females of all ages, backgrounds, and careers.

“Driving gender equality across our business and communities is critical to creating a truly inclusive future, and we were inspired by the powerful reflections and stories of the women in our celebratory film,” shared Erica Bourne, Burberry’s Chief People Officer. In fact, Burberry has become a signatory on the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles in order to cement their commitment to reaching female equality.

Burberry’s International Women’s Day campaign consists of two different initiatives. First, Burberry has donated to The Prince’s Trust, a longtime partner of the brand, to support their “Change A Girl’s Life” project, consisting of online resources to improve women’s employability.

Secondly, the Burberry Foundation has joined forces with London Youth for relief efforts on the impact of COVID-19, as well as the funding of programs for young women.

Hats off to Burberry for their tangible strides towards gender inclusivity within their workplace, and beyond.
