Who ever said television was dead? Certainly not Virgil Abloh.
The Off-White founder and creative director is turning to the medium albeit in a different way. In an experience titled “Imaginary TV”, the brand is set to digitally debut its Spring/Summer 2021 collection, which will combine womenswear and menswear.
The aesthetics of the videos dropped so far are cyber futuristic yet purposefully nostalgic. There’s staticky narration, an ’80s like technicolored palette, and gaming-esque graphics, fusing emblems of the past with the future.
Not only will this innovative showcase give viewers entry into a very Off-White kind of world, it will send a message of connectivity, even if that concept currently seems far away. “Think personal connections through a public platform. Connecting the dots of distance through a global language. Linking up, even though we may be thousands of miles apart,” noted Abloh in a press release.
The digital event and collection will go live February 2 and, although further details are yet to come, you can register on Off-White’s website for updates and access instructions. As for the collection, selected items be available for purchase as previews on off—white.com and Farfetch.com and on Off-White’s distribution channels worldwide shortly after.END
