As part of the Fall/Winter 2020 season, denim expert J Brand and ultra-luxe London-based designer Halpern teamed up to create a nine-piece capsule collection, first featured in Halpern’s show during London Fashion Week. The collaboration fuses the defining signatures of each brand, with Halpern’s maximalist shimmer and shine matched by J Brand’s precise denim know-how.
Making his runway debut in the Fall/Winter 2017 season, Michael Halpern quickly cemented himself as a successful designer on the rise, with his masterful skills and glamorous aesthetic establishing him as a red carpet favorite of stars like Amal Clooney and Lupita Nyong’o. The collaboration with J Brand highlights Halpern’s fabulous and opulent eye for design while utilizing a truly universal material.
The offering includes six pants, in denim, coating, and leather, each featuring funky detailing like an ultra-flared silhouette or beaded fringe. These are joined by three equally cool jackets, including a patent leather balloon-sleeved trench.
“This collaboration has given me the opportunity to express myself in a way I haven’t previously,” Halpern said. “It was so exciting to be able to use such incredible materials, like J Brand’s brilliant eco foil denim and embossed leather snakeskin, to create a capsule collection epitomizing the Halpern aesthetic: true glamour whilst kissing classic Americana.”
This collaboration marks another notable partnership for J Brand, which has previously worked with a roster of acclaimed designers including Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha, and Proenza Schouler. In keeping with this theme, the premium denim brand has gained a reputation for their collaborative support of emerging young talent.
