For its Fall/Winter 2020 campaign, debuting exclusively on CR, Parisian fashion brand The Kooples finds inspiration in the most personal of relationships at a time when physical connection and human contact are at a minimum. Featuring lovers, soulmates, spouses, parents, and siblings, The Kooples nostalgically takes note from some of its very first campaigns, showcasing diverse real-life couples, their names, and how long they have been together. Titled We are The Kooples, the campaign is the first to be styled and conceptualized by Artistic Director Tom Van Dorpe since his May appointment.

We are The Kooples celebrates human connection with six duos lensed atop an intimate Parisian rooftop. While paying homage to The Kooples’ heritage, the campaign simultaneously provides a modern message of intimacy. Featuring lovers Marjan and Sakua, newlyweds Daanisj and Ayesha, parents Anamaria and Axel, brothers Zacharie and Matthieu, sisters Anania and Gaïa, and soulmates Mari-Lou and Youssou in the Fall/Winter 2020 collection, the maison captures each pair’s everyday signs of affection, whether it be a look, a smile, a touch, or a kiss. Centering on their connectivity, the campaign video features the duos divulging anecdotes about their relationships, from how they first met to what their close bonds mean to them.

With transcendent images shot by French photographer Hugo Comte, poignant behind-the-scenes photos lensed by Leewei Swee, and a campaign video captured by Théodore Hugonnier, the project translates to seductive, emotional visuals, marking a new era for The Kooples as it undergoes new ownership, management, and artistic direction.

Known for its rock ‘n’ roll-inspired aesthetic and sleek tailoring, the brand’s signature edge is on full display in its latest campaign. Graphic tees, leather jackets, and denim combine with modern suiting and outerwear. Modeled by The Kooples’ couples, the fashion is just as enticing as their connections.
