Amidst the many other brands that have opted for virtual presentations, Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele has revealed his plan for the final day of Milan Digital Fashion Week on July 17. Gucci will show its latest collection, titled Epilogue, through a special 12-hour live stream and the release of a visual narrative feature, broadcast on multiple digital platforms worldwide.
Michele previously stated that his new collection will serve as the culminating chapter of a narrative arc established in his last show, An Unrepeatable Ritual. The spectacle peeled back the layers of what goes on behind the scenes at fashion shows, highlighting the work of seamstresses and designers.
Epilogue takes the place of what would traditionally be called a Cruise collection. In a May announcement, the creative director shared that Gucci would depart from the traditional fashion week schedule and opt for two coed, season-less shows per year.
Modeled by team members within Michele’s design office, Epilogue promises to deliver a provocative conclusion to his narrative with a unified collection, guaranteed to upend the traditions of the fashion world. Beginning at 2 a.m. EST, the live streaming will last for 12 hours straight, and at 8 a.m. EST the exclusive visual narrative feature will be revealed. It will stream on Gucci’s website, in addition to YouTube, Twitter, Weibo, and the Gucci App. The new timeframe provides an opportunity for the innovation and exploration to which Michele is no stranger.END
