Solange’s Saint Heron Partners With Parsons to Celebrate 2020 Graduates

START body

As the school year comes to a close in the age of COVID-19, 2020 graduates are bearing the brunt of a disrupted senior year and commencement ceremony cancellations. Particularly deprived of a final bow are fashion students, which is why singer-songwriter Solange Knowles’ creative agency Saint Heron are stepping up to support graduates of the Parsons’ School of Fashion at the New School with an immersive online festival to celebrate final-year thesis and capstone work.

The festival, titled Here and Now, will run from June until August, complete with online discussions, performances, lectures, film screenings, design workshops, and mentorship and networking opportunities for graduates. A schedule of the festival remains in the works, but there is already a special project tied to the event. Here and Now will feature “Metonymy,” a 3-D installation made by artist Jacolby Satterwhite in collaboration with the Saint Heron creative team and more than 300 graduating students from the School of Fashion at Parsons.

Solange is no stranger to the hard work of Parsons students, as she was honored in 2018 at the 70th Annual Parsons Benefit. According to her agency, “As the world confronts the challenges of our current global crisis, fashion and design communities must embrace new ways to pause, evolve, and adapt. These challenges open up opportunities to expand growth in our creativity and innovation—two expressions at the core of Saint Heron as well as Parsons’ students.”
