As fashion continues to break away from a traditional brick-and-mortar structures, dipping more and more into conceptual retail spaces, French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus does just that with his latest project, Café Citron.
Following a series of teaser posts on the brand’s Instagram account, it was revealed that the Jacquemus brand would be opening its own café, collaborating with Parisian-loved eatery Caviar Kaspia. The massive new space is set to open at the newly redesigned flagship Galleries Lafayette on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
Named Citron after the French word for lemon, the café oozes the Jacquemus style, transporting us right to the designer’s native city, Marseilles in the South of France. The Mediterranean influence is visually present in the designs, with lemon trees and sun-bleached decor that are reminiscent of the boiling summers in Le Midi. The menu, designed by renowned pastry chefs Cédric Grolet, Jeffrey Cagnes, and Anthony Courtiells (among others), follows a regional theme with rustic baked bread and rosemary-pistachio lemon tarts adorned with flowers bringing a southern flair to metropolitan Paris.
Café Citron opens at Galleries Lafayette in Paris on March, 28th 2019 at 12:00pm CET.END
