London-based luxury brand JW Anderson has launched JWA-TV, a tele-shopping inspired social media campaign focusing on their new handbags for Spring/Summer 2019. The tongue-in-cheek throwback video series will air in three parts total, with the first installment focusing on the brand’s Keyts bag. The following releases will feature the Anchor Logo and Bike families of bags.
The JWA-TV parody videos are a refreshingly kitschy and humorous take on what we’re used to seeing from brands. Shot in the style of a tele-shopping broadcast, the videos include JW Anderson graphics, titles, professional presenters, and spokesmodels.
With celebrity host Sandie Stone portrayed by Tony-nominated cabaret performer and performance artist Justin Vivian Bond, the campaign is truly and originally amusing. Her overall delivery and tone throughout the videos are completely on brand for JW Anderson: smart, slightly contemptuous, yet elegant. Sandie’s cohost, Joyce Nawman, is played by New York City performer Jill Pangallo. The role of Staci D is played by Amber, who is a veteran QVC on-air personality.
Creative director and JW Anderson founder Jonathan Anderson has always been a fan of Bond, he says. “I remember working on some of my first collections and listening to her albums on repeat. I ran into her in San Francisco not too long ago and I thought, we have to do something with her.”
Previews of the videos will debut across all of JW Anderson’s respective social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The full-length version will be available exclusively on the recently relaunched JW Anderson website.END
