With the current climate crisis, multiple celebrities and figures have reached out to their audiences to fight for climate change. The impending climate conference with the United Nations titled COP26, a climate change initiative, and organization Letters to the Earth has teamed up with activists to raise awareness about the conference. Open to the public, the organization hosts a submission of letters to be shared at the conference. Previous contributors include Yoko Ono and Dame Emma Thompson.
This conference is crucial, as nations come together to plan their climate plan for the 2020-2030 decade.
In a recent video taken at Shakespeare’s Globe, Vivienne Westwood reads a speech about climate and sustainability. She states, “The word economy means ‘household management’. Earth is our home, so on a global scale that means sustainability. We don’t have that. We have no future.”
Westwood’s Climate Revolution campaign is centered around utilizing the land and taking care of the earth. Her Letter to the Earth is a call to all of her audience to participate in the fight for climate change. The campaign will culminate at and during COP26, where all letters received will be distributed en masse, and select letters will be performed and read at events during the conference.
You can submit and share your letter with Letters to the Earth on their website.END
