Tommy Hilfiger is known for putting the pep in preppy, for making sportswear chic, as well for his ability to integrate pop culture and celebrity into the world of fashion, from ’90s ad campaigns starring David Bowie and Beyoncé, to collections co-designed by Gigi. Today, Hilfiger further revived this tradition by announcing actress and CR star Zendaya as the brand’s newest Global Ambassador, beginning in spring 2019.
As part of the brand’s ongoing effort to expand upon its women’s businesses worldwide, the actress will also collaborate on a new capsule collection, Tommy x Zendaya, according to Hilfiger in a release. It “will fuse her eclectic style with the Americana spirit of our brand,” he said. “I love to collaborate with people who are passionate about making their dreams a reality and who inspire the next generation to do the same.”
“Fashion is more than just wearing cool clothes,” Zendaya said. “It’s a way to celebrate self-expression and individuality, which is extremely empowering.”
The 22-year old actress joins a slew of past ambassadors for the brand including CR star Gigi Hadid (who collaborated on four different capsules for Hilfiger in 2016 and 2017), and more recently, It-girls Hailey Baldwin and Winnie Harlow.
The Tommy X Zendaya capsule will be a see-now-buy-now collection set to be released in select stores, as well as online, in February.END
