How to Treat Dark Under-Eye Circles

Troves of eye masks, serums, and creams stock store shelves and pharmacies across the world, packaged cleverly in boxes boasting promises to erase the dark circles that we coat in concealer each day, but the most effective way to find a regimen to erase dark circles is to understand the root cause of the problem.

“Dark under eye circles are inherited, or certain ethnicities are more prone to developing dark under-eye circles. Stress, dehydration, poor nutrition, allergies and sleep deprivation are also factors,” says Dr. David Colbert, M.D. of New York Dermatology Group. “It depends on the cause, but generally speaking, calming agents like chamomile, kojic acid, and symwhite are just a few ingredients to look for.”

Here, CR asked the celebrity dermatologist some pressing questions on how to get rid of puffy, dark under-eye circles and assembled the best dark circle creams and masks to help illuminate and revive the eye area in no time.
