Known for their luxury clothing in fabrics of wool and cashmere, century-old Italian fashion house Loro Piana is now bringing its luxurious feel to the home with its first-ever candle collection. The collection pays homage to the delicate, refined work of Italian master candlemakers, all created with the same attention to effort and detail as their clothing. A full three days is put into each candle, made from all natural materials: paraffin, pure essential oils, cotton wick dyed with food-grade natural pigments, and an oak base.
The names of the three candles tie back to the brand origins of working with fabric but, the candles, Zibeline, Jacquard and Bouclé, don’t just incorporate Loro Piana’s textile traditions by name. The wax of each is melded with the finest fabrics and yarns from production usually left over from trimmings and tests. Ever part of the candle celebrates the beauty and elegance of the raw materials.
Zibeline’s fragrance is Mongolia, including notes of spice and cedarwood. The candle is set to evoke the familiarity of cashmere, with cashmere trimmings from the handcrafting of the brand’s iconic scarves blended into the wax. Jacquard’s fragrance is Myanmar, which holds the sweetness of flowers tempered by more pungent accents. Cashmere is also utilized in this candle, alternating with colored wax to resemble knitwear. The last candle, Bouclé, is a a fresh, light bouquet fragrance that evokes the wide-open spaces of the place in which it’s named after New Zealand, home to the best wool in the world. This candle is wrapped in soft cotton yarn inspired by a spool.
