Virgil Abloh, creative director and founder of Off-White, introduces his new re-conceptualized Burrow Bag. First launched in early 2021, the bag followed the theme of “Meteor Shower,” a collection the brand presented for Spring/Summer 2020. The name evoked from the circular cutout troupe seen throughout that resembled craters on the moon, becoming an iconic and well-known element to many of Abloh’s pieces.
The bag features the intergalactic inspired circular cutouts in elevated fabric, adding a more plush luxurious feel with its cushion like structure. The added volume matched with the rigid shape of the bag adds to its playful and graphic feel. This launch includes new color ways of sage green and orange, as well as the new the Rock Burrow print. The unique print utilizes digital printing and specific glossing techniques to achieve a look and texture reminiscent of granite. A tote bag version is also set to follow.
“The Burrow Bag is the latest evolution of the meteor shower, which to me, is a standing representation of the strength of women and their invaluable contributions to our society as a whole,” said Abloh. Featured in the campaign is Candice Swanepoel, model and CR 19 cover girl, and Honey Dijon who was CR 18’s guest editor. “Naturally two of the strongest women I know – Honey Dijon and Candice – are the perfect icons to bring strength, heroism, and female empowerment to life. Each is a meteor in their own right, blazing their own paths and leaving a distinct mark on the world surrounding them, ” Abloh explained.
