Helmut Lang and Artist PZ Opassuksatit Look to Space for New Capsule

Helmut Lang delivers a healthy dose of escapism with its latest project. Teaming up with artist PZ Opassuksatit for a Fall/Winter 2020 capsule collection and coordinating video, both titled Helmutland, the label creates a fictional world where fans can celebrate the Helmut Lang community and bask in the brand’s heritage.

With graphics conceived by Opassuksatit, the capsule includes hoodies, T-shirts, and sweats. The collection celebrates Helmut Lang’s past and future with emblematic motifs from the brand’s archival pieces reimagined. For example, its summer camp tank is met with modern icons, such as the mouse mascot to celebrate the year of the rat. A number of pieces are emblazoned with “Welcome to Helmutland New York.”

To truly send you off to HelmutLand, a five minute video created by Opassuksatit highlights the collection on the Head ’95 Rocket. The futuristic episode depicts Helmut Lang’s take on an astronaut’s how-to videos from space, illustrating daily tasks such as washing your hair, making a sandwich, and preparing to land on planet Helmutland.

The Helmutland collection is now available at Helmut Lang stores, select retailers, and online.
