Coinciding with Earth Month, Burberry recently launched ReBurberry Edit, a collection of 26 looks from the Spring/Summer 2020 collection that have been recreated with the latest sustainable materials. Along with the eco-friendly edit, the British luxury brand is also making strides to be more transparent about all of its products. New labelling across its key categories will inform customers about how the brand is meeting specific sustainability requirements.
“By inviting customers to learn more about the sustainable credentials of our products through our labeling program, we are helping them to better understand our initiatives and breadth of the ambition of our responsibility agenda,” said Pam Batty, vice president of corporate responsibility at Burberry.
The ReBurberry Edit features a range of sustainable products: Eyewear crafted from bio-based acetate; trench coats and parkas created from Econyl, a recycled nylon made from regenerated fishing nets, fabric scraps, and industrial plastic; and a selection of bags designed in a facility runs on renewable energy. In addition to utilizing sustainable materials, Burberry has also adopted positive impacts into the company’s identity, such as reducing water and energy waste and paying its workers the supported living wage.
Beyond the new sustainability initiatives, Burberry is now halfway through its five-year Responsibility Agenda, focusing on product, its operations, and the communities that support the luxury industry. By 2022, the brand aspires to be carbon neutral and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 95 percent.
The ReBurberry Edit is now available online.END
