Gucci is donating 2 million euros in the fight against the coronavirus. The Italian luxury fashion house will contribute to two crowdfunding campaigns: 1 million euros to the Italian Civil Protection Department, and another 1 million euros to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund in support of the World Health Organization.

Earlier this week, Gucci’s parent company, Kering, contributed 3 million masks to France, tackling the health supply shortages during the pandemic. Kering-owned luxury labels Gucci, Balenciaga, and Saint Laurent have also altered the use of their factories to produce millions of surgical masks and other essential supplies for healthcare workers.

In Italy, the center of the pandemic in Europe, Gucci is calling on its community to support the crowdfunding campaigns. The donation for the Italian Civil Protection Department will be through Intesa Sanpaolo’s ForFunding crowdfunding platform, prioritizing the creation of new ICU beds. The #GucciCommunity can make a donation through the crowdfunding platform’s webpage.

On a global scale, Gucci’s contribution to the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund will be made through a Facebook million matching fundraiser. It aims to support WHO’s lifesaving work around the world by putting funds towards tracking the spread of the virus, strengthening patient care and ICUs, enhancing medical supplies, and accelerating the development of vaccines.

“By supporting each other and helping those who are most vulnerable among us, we will be able to overcome this crisis: united, even more than before,” Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele and president and chief executive officer Marco Bizzarri penned in a letter addressed to Gucci employees. “Gucci has created a world, open and free: a Gucci global community. We ask all of you to be the changemakers in this crisis, to stand together with us in the fight against the coronavirus. We are all in this together.”
