Maison Valentino has joined forces with Moncler to bring an exclusive collection of coats to cozy up in for fall. The collection, overseen by the careful eye of Valentino’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, consists of men’s and women’s winter pieces with a luxe edit. The two fashion houses combined their strengths–Moncler and its expertly crafted down coats and Valentino’s whimsical flair–to create a selection of statement outerwear and handbags.
While the down jackets may appear as Moncler’s signature outerwear from afar, they each have distinctly Valentino details. The Women’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection that two coats were featured in on Valentino’s runway focused on references to heritage designs from the house’s past, like Valentino Garavani’s tiger print. For the collaboration, the tiger print was applied to the quilting on a couple of the options giving them texture, and also as a graphic print on a green iteration.
On the more traditional black and white down coats, Piccioli added a fresh logo. The letters VLTN run down the back or across both sides of the jackets in the contrasting color (black-on-white and white-on-black), declaring Valentino’s presence. Of course, Valentino’s signature red also made an appearance, giving a pop of color to the lining of the black jackets.
On the women’s runway, the coats were layered over silk and lace dresses. The contrast between the swollen down with graphic details and the softer pieces underneath created high-impact looks that are guaranteed to keep you warm. The styling on the men’s runway had a similar effect, with the down jackets layered over simple sweaters and slim trousers.
The collection will be available at the end of August and range from ,500 to ,200 with handbags starting at ,095. The collection will be exclusively featured in select Valentino boutiques and on the brand’s website.END
