An Ode to Stéphane Audran from CR Fashion Book Issue 7

START body

Stéphane Audran was an icon, who could captivate as easily as she could transform. Known for her long-time filmic collaboration with Claude Chabrol—to whom she was married to for nearly 40 years—the BAFTA winning actress appeared in historic French New Wave film such as Les Cousins (1959), The Good Women (1960), Les Biches (1968), and Violette Nozière (1978), although perhaps her most noteworthy role was as Alice in Luis Buñuel’s Oscar-winning film The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972). On today, the day of her passing, CR remembers this homage to Audran from issue 7. Photographed by Felix Cooper and styled by Benjamin Galopin, the images celebrate the star’s ability subvert even herself in a Cindy Sherman-esque way.
