Designer and founder of Pyer Moss Kerby Jean-Raymond announces that he is teaming up with Kering chairman and Chief Executive Officer François-Henri Pinault for Your Friends in New York, a project that seeks to encourage the “next generation of innovators.” The platform will unite the fields of fashion, music, art, philanthropy, and wellness under the Pyer Moss umbrella.

Your Friends in New York will house a number of sectors aimed at bringing brands, artists, and communities together. Multi-day events, an incubator-inspired program, philanthropic initiatives, and even a merchandise label are among the many facets of Jean-Raymond and Pinault’s master plan.

Created by a figure outspoken on politics and social justice, Pyer Moss has long been an outlet for activism. In the brand’s relatively short existence, Jean-Raymond has used it to broadcast a short film on police brutality, market a collection centered on economic inequality, and donate to North Dakota pipeline protesters. Most recently, the brand organized a drive to provide medical supplies and relief funds to minority-owned businesses impacted by the pandemic.

Kering also assumes a philanthropic role through the Kering Foundation. The French luxury group’s CEO expressed his proclivity for innovative and uplifting initiatives such as YFINY. “It was only natural for Kering to support this project that seeks to empower new artistic talents, to encourage the diversity of creativity and to give a voice to the younger generation of innovators,” Pinault said.

For Jean-Raymond, the goal of the partnership is to provide representation and uplift emerging brands and designers. He shared his humble desire to help, saying “It is important to me to create and work on ventures that are future forward, involve the community at large and that will continue to help others grow in the fashion and art space.”
