The stick-thin elusiveness of the Big Six slowly gave way to an ethereal and more personable mold—while on the other side of the spectrum, Victoria’s Secret rose to one of the decade’s aesthetic leaders, churning out bombshell covergirls that went on to become empires in and of themselves. Armed with the burgeoning tool of social media, The Devil Wears Prada-era print industry at its prime, and probably a velour tracksuit or two, the supers of the aughts were put in the public eye like none of their predecessors—and they thrived, crafting digital presences nearly as legendary as their looks.
