Media mogul and CR star Kim Kardasahian-West will be picking up the first ever Influencer Award at the 2018 CFDA Awards next month. The reality star has cemented her impact on the fashion industry in the last year, launching her KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance businesses, gracing campaigns for husband Kanye West’s Yeezy and Calvin Klein campaigns, and appearing in various fashion editorials and covers. Kardashian is also planning on launching a lingerie label after announcing last month that her family would be shuttering all remaining Dash stores. Kardashian’s social clout, spanning across 200 million followers on Instagram and Twitter, has spawned a bonafide empire within the past few years.
“Kim is the most important and powerful influencer in the world. Her reach extends far beyond her own brands,” CFDA Board Member Tommy Hilfiger said. “Every time she wears, posts or talks about a fashion brand, there is an immediate and significant increase in both awareness and sales.”
Kardashian will be the first ever recipient of the Influencer Award after CFDA president and CEO Steven Kolb determined her undeniable impact on global fashion industries through her friendships with designers and brands. The award is conditional of mandatory attendance, to which Kardashian accorded almost immediately.
The CFDA Awards will take place on June 4 at the Brooklyn, will be hosted by Issa Rae, and will be streamed across social channels the day of.END
